White smoke?

So, about 3 months ago, my wagon over heated, the head gasket blew, and it started smoking white really bad. So I got it home, had a friend replace the head gasket ( I didnt have much time to work on it). So after he was done, fired it up, and it was all good. Now, my problem is, when Im driving I get a strong odor of coolant. Once I shut off the car and turn it on, it starts smoking and shaking. It does it for a few seconds then idle goes back to normal, no white smoke or shaking?
Could that be the head gasket again? Or the head being warped?
Hope you guys can help me out, thanks.
