HF block x 2WD tranny?

I have a bad D15B2 and got a D15B6 (HF) - minus tranny - to replace it. Will the tranny I have fit onto the B6 engine? Also, is this even advisable or should I find an HF tranny instead?

    Yes the transmission will fit.

Like Jaker said the tranny will fit fine.

Though, the D15B2 is DPFI and the D15B6 is MPFI. So, depending on whats wrong with the B2 you have to either swap heads(HF block & B2 head) or do a DPFI to MPFI conversion.

If it were me, I'd convert the car to MPFI and try to find a HF tranny. Would make a significant difference in the fuel economy.

What's involved in the DPFI to MPFI conversion? Is there a discussion of this somewhere? I may try to find an HF transmission although the point of this was to keep costs down. The B2 engine has been burning oil and recently won't start and makes an odd sound when cranking. I am guessing that the timing belt jumped a tooth.
  • I would just swap intake manifolds for a quick swap, personally I think dpfi set up would work better for performance crazy as it may sound... I don't advise use of a 16 valve head on an HF block considering the HF pistons have valve revisions for only 8 valves...

I like the idea of swapping manifolds better than swapping heads for this job. Skywalker, would you also advise the HF transmission over the B2?

In my opinion, I wouldn't ever choose an HF trans, I really don't know how its fuel efficient. It's a pig, 2nd gear redline around 98mph! I like the wagons dx trans the most it feels somewhere between the hatches dx and crx si. I think I've read it has a different final drive.

Anyways I've been able to get 40+ mpg with all but the HF and that other nightmare 4 speed lol, most likely because when I push the gas peddle... I like to get to 50mph... sometime... Today!

I've got the B6 in mine, and the dude that did it left it dpfi. It has a slew of running problems, it runs but is choking for fuel most of the time. I would just take the time to do a mpfi, and dx tranny. My transmission is the DX and it works well with the motor, yet the fuel problem makes it not so fun to drive sometimes.

Are you shure your injectors are working correctly? Dpfi as with all side feed injectors are prone to problems... check your local bone yard for dpfi injectors, bet you find 20 dpfi civics with injectors already gone. There is no chance that 8 valve 67hp hf is starving for fuel on a 94hp injection system.

Well that's what I was thinking...However my ecu is saying fuel injector problem code 16. But from what I've heard with others is that the ECT could be out. Which isn't a big thing to fix but I'm in school 5 days a week this summer, so no time.

???, LOL I suspected injectors, and your ecm said injectors, hmmm, go out and get 2 new injectors my friend :) obd0 ecm won't throw mystery codes, obd2/CAN ecm's on the other hand will take some detective work before you throw cash at it
