Hatch supports

I have searched all over this forum and yes i used the search button. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to remove the rear hatch supports. These are a lot different than whats on my 08 Scion XB.

Guess nobody knows how to do this? even tho its been done hundreds of times on this forum that i have seen. I just cant get the top part of the shock out of its mount. I did manage to get the bottom part off.

The top is the easy part. Pop off a plastic cover and there are 2 M6 bolts (10mm head). The bottom is a little tricky because you have to back the stud all the way out with a 12mm open-end wrench. Good news, though: since the aftermarket ones come with a detachable stud at the bottom, you can cut off the ball end of the old ones and take the rest out with a socket...make sense?

Advance Auto. They're 'Strong Arm' brand- don't recall the part number.

    ??

You've got them installed already? Or just ordered? I'm buying these ASAP...
  • I just put the 4909 in a few days ago. The parts store sells them individually. The price was like $100. So I got them on ebay for about $60.
