does anyone happen to know the largest size 14 inch tire that you can fit on a RTAWD wagon? also im looking to use 13 inch stealies for the winter, what size tires belong on 13's? im looking to gain some clearance with larger tires.

195/60 14's fit no problem, with room to spare on my 91 4wd. I'm using first generation Teg steelies with them. Given you want to stick with 14's, you may be able to go up to 205s OK if you have 6" or wider wheels available to you. My teg wheels are 5.5 and stock 14" wagon is 5", I think, but I don't have one left to measure. Width will limit you well before diameter.
With the 195/60 14, the speedo is still pretty close to accurate, but not spot on... about 3 MPH higher than true speed as measured from mile marker to mile marker on the hiway.

  • here's my current tire story:

i had to buy new tires cuz i ran over a fat pot hole and received a slow leak about a week ago..the sidewall started leaking air.. i had my current ones on since nov '04 i believe..put on about 29,000 miles on them up until the pot hole..there's still good tread left on the other rear 2 tires..the front left is done and the front right has a nail going right through it..i figured, why spend more money on these when i should just buy new ones since it's almost that time anyways.

i was going to go with a 215/40/16 tire size this time around but i figured why bother wasting more gas? i already drive kinda fast and my car is lowered. i was also going to go with the Parada Spec II, but after talking with a few people at the tire shop, they said they don't last long..like every other high performance tire..not surprisingly. the Spec II also is more of a summer tire. i needed a general all purpose high performance that also does good in the rain.

these tires are pretty good, i have them on right now, they got good grip and handling in bad weather..and quiet..i don't hear a thing.

the tread is pretty decent and agressive looking..
