Transmission leak -86 wagon

Well I had the front up a couple days ago to bleed the brakes. that was a nightmare. The front brake bleeds seem seized. Oh well, bled the back brakes at least. No more brake warning light. Still kinda squishy.
But I had a better look at the tranny leak. It seems that there must be a hole in the tranny gasket. Had the same problem with my old ford a ways back. It was prohibitively hard to deal with on that truck as I would have had to get the driveshaft out to back the tranny up. Possible, but VERY heavy stuff and would have needed a proper shop to do.
Is it easier on these front wheel drive guys? or harder? Should I just take it to a proper shop and have some other stuff done as well?
Please tell me it wont involve an engine hoist.

Although I AM used to dealing with 88 and newer, I highly doubt it is any different.
And no, it shouldnt require an engine hoist. On an 88+ you just jack the front end up, pull the axles out, place a jack stand under the oil pan in a spot so it wont bend, and remove the transmission (3 motor mounts, shift linkage, and the bolts that hold it to the tranny). With the tranny out in an 88+ the motor is only held in by the driver's side mount, as the other 3 are actually connected to the tranny.
Not sure if any of this helps, as Ive never worked on a pre 87. Good luck though. And make sure its the case halves leaking BEFORE you pull it. It would suck if it was just a 10 dollar axle seal that only requires pulling out one axle...
When I get back from my trip I am taking it to a honda guy in SF who has a good rep. They have a $60 special where they do all your fluids, oil and air filters and a good lookover.
