SAE 90 Oil for the Rear Diff RT4WD?

Anybody know where I can find some basic SAE 90 Gear Oil? I've been to Autozone & Walmart and all I can find is some 75w-90 SAE or whatever crap. Or does it even matter? Let me know! Thanks!!

LOL omg I can't believe I'm having the hardest time trying to locate some sae 90 gear oil locally. I tried Autozone, Pepboys, Walmart, and even called Honda. Everybody either has the regular double weight ex.(75w90) or Honda says it's only for the use of their "mechanics" and is not for sale. But then again Costa Mesa Honda has poor service... GREAAATT!!!

Try a Boat or Marine dealer.

    Valvoline: http://www.valvoline.be/index.asp?pagei ... d94375b9d0

    Motul 2 liter ($23) : http://shop.edoperformance.com/motul-di ... 15029.html

    Sounds good it's GL-5 & sae90.

I'm not totally sold on synthetic(If you're thinking it) .They say it has less friction, but they add a friction increasing additive 'cuz it's too slippery.
  • You think sae 80 - 90 would be okay for my rt4wd wagon!?

yeah it would work too it even says that off the case i believe for below 5 degree weather driving i think....
  • So 90w is correct for the weight!?(:
  • What does the owners manual say.
  • It says 80 or 90 sae but not weight.

dre1162: The weight is about oil weight NOT Wgn.weight.You use 80w or 90w depending on outside temp.As far as getting single weight oil.IT's a lot harder to get.Even on the Ford & Chevy Truck forums they find it hard to get. Most have gone to the multi-weight oils.

As I mentioned above I find straight synthetic diff oil a contradiction .So I used a synthetic blend Valvoline Dura Blend 80w-90.Less expensive than pure synthetic too.Even this is now replaced by a 75w-90 oil.Just make sure it has a API rating of GL-5 on it. I've been running with the drive shaft removed.Haven't verified it yet,but I think my gas mileage went up 2-3 mpg with just the oil change. :)I have a feeling the OEM oil was never replaced(155,000 miles).
