DIY poly mounts?

Has anyone here done this on their wagon?

My question for the experienced guys, if the mount is pretty worn out would this still work?

I don't have any OEM mounts in good condition, but I want to do something before one of them breaks.

Thanks!

I had done this in my wifes mirage and it works really well! I can say you will get a certain vibration that will run through the whole car. As for it being worn, is it still centering up like it would when new? If yes then you should be ok, if not get a new one. Oh BTW, It tooks almost 9 days for it to setup fully!

Yeah I have some pretty crappy ones. They do center, just have bad cracks.

As far as the setting time, would warmer temps help at all?
  • Yeah I've done it on my CRX back in the day with a minime...those mounts were beat. I autocrossed the thing, daily drove it and it held up for the couple years I had it...prob still fine to this day. I'm doing this on the ZC that's going in now.

I would definitely try it, and I disagree with the writer of your posted how-to about rejecting cracked mounts. You're filling the whole thing with urethane, it won't matter if it was broken before!
  • I've done this with my RT4wd. They were definitely solid after I was done. Helped a bunch with the turbo ZC. If the mount is cracked makes sure you give them time to set or it will just squish out when the motor puts weight on them.
