Book/Manual

Whenever I get a used car I always get the corresponding repair manual. Usually Chilton or whatevs. Any suggestions? I have had bad luck in the past and usually end up having to buy several books to find the right diagrams and procedures etc.
Like with my old van. One book had the right stuff for the carb and engine, the other book had the stuff on the brakes.

  • must be nice!
One concern I have is that with older cars (its an 86) the books will gloss over important stuff like brakes, carb etc. I have seen some books that are just wrong!

Yea I've run into that problem as well. Usually if I run into a problem I just ask around most people have run into or had to deal with that same problems. And usually have good answers.
  • true, I am sure there is a lot of info in this forum and on the net about this and other hondas. I like to have diagrams though, so I have half a clue when I am dicking around with the brakes or the engine.

It's also nice for roadside repairs!
There are a lot of used ones on amazon so I am not worried. I am gonna start with the cheap ones (.05 cents!) and work my way up.

So I went ahead and ordered a couple used books off of Amazon. Came out to less than $12 with shipping.
    I got the
"Honda Civic Hatchback, Shuttle and CRX 1984-86 Owner's Workshop Manual"
    and the chilton
"Honda: Civic, CRX and del Sol 1984-95 (Chilton's Total Car Care Repair Manual)"
I am fairly unfamiliar with Hondas so I need a crash course in how to get around on the engine parts. Just the valve cover is kind of WTF?
