Front lsd from an intrac gearbox?

I think i read somewhere that the intrac models (some of them) where fitted with optional lsd in the gearbox and rear diff. Is this true? If so can the gearbox from an intrac model with lsd just be swopped over easily to the non abs model to give the front lsd and then put a normal d series lsd in the rear diff as has been mentioned on here? I can source the intrac model in scrapyards in germany pretty easy if so.

What would be the outcome of having front and rear lsd, my screnario will be track use and maybe the odd strip now and again, so would it be beneficial for me?

Thanks

  • From what I've researched/read (and Jaker would be the one to talk to on the rear diff), front LSD will work in the RT4wd rear. Intrac's have a big electronically controlled monster for a rear diff, and I don't think much if anything swaps between the RT4wd and the Intrac.

No idea on the front diffs but I'm sure some on here has some experience.

Front LSD was optional, had LSD stamped on gearbox casing.

Rear LSD was standard in the INTRAC model. It's not as big as people make out, it just has a longer snout. I haven't had a chance to tear one down so i don't know what will fit inside the pumpkin.

Im picking up a crx next week im going to put in the shuttle RT drivetrain over the summer, just the intrac gearbox with lsd im interested in using with the non ABS RT drivetrain and stick in a rear lsd at some point. Hopefully ill have some luck in finding one. Seem to be alot of shuttles in the south of germany.

Are there any parts you guys in the US would be interested from the european models?

Yes, with some minor (but permanent) modifications, a FWD LSD fits the rear (non-Intrac) diff.
