J32 RWD daydream

My mind was wondering on and on at work today. I had a thought, what if you took one original neat idea and put it with another?

I am sure no one here has any real answers for these questions but these are a few things that I am asking myself.
-What would keep me from using the rt wagon rear control arms?
-How could I use the Rt4wd hub that will accommodate a cv-shaft as a advantage?

    It's a drag that Randall pulled down all the pictures, but this guy was doing something very similar to what you're proposing. His was an NSX engine with a Porsche G50 transmission in the back of a DC Teg. He's the one that helped me through the mods to my RT rear arms for the bigger axles. It definitely do-able, but you'll need some fab skills and a welder for sure:

    Are you seriously considering buying the Epic Hatch? It's worth the asking price if you are.

    You been eavesdropping on me?

    Man I would love to but I had to see what the SOON TO BE wife had to say about it and she reminded me that our wedding is only 5 months away. With me paying for everything and not everything is done I am not going to have $8600 to just throw at a car.

    yes bam-bam, yes I have.

    What if you took the whole G2 Legend clip- transmission, suspension and all- and put it in the backseat of a wagon? Hmm, how much wider is the Legend's track?
  • Thats not a bad thought at all either! something to look into. It will eliminate the motor mount issues.
  • The CL's are too wide
    CL = 70.6 in
    Wagon = 66.1 in
  • Oh and the legend is a C32 not a J32 it also has longitudinal mounted drivetrain that is actually FWD.

    That's exactly the one I mean. Too wide?

    And if it is only 2.5" per side, couldn't we camouflage that?
  • 2.5" is quite a bit if you think about it.

    why would you want the c32 over the j32?
    There is a bigger aftermarket support for the J series over the c32

    I don't know, just thought it would look wild in there. I'm big on "never been done".

    Oh, and so I could reach in the side window to change the head gaskets! There's easily 10 of these for sale on CL Atlanta with blown HGs.
  • Are there any 6 speeds because that is the only hard part about these engines. The auto conversion is one of the hardest parts of the swap.

    has anyone here seen daves integra from team integra? it's sick! So i was seriously thinking about putting the drive train from an old carbuerated RX7 into a wagon. yeah, i know, bad idea.

    Bam. DO IT. :o

    Hell no that's not a bad idea. It's original AND those old school carbed rotaries made some serious NA power.

    Now last night I was looking at how our trailing arm and rear crossmember sit and how much room one would have to fit a engine. I wouldn't mind using the stock rt4wd crossmember, hub and trailing arm. With that I will not have to mess with the track or alignment. The motor/tranny could for the most part be slightly off and still be ok as long as there isn't much bind on the cv-shafts. And that way if need be I could mount the motor more forward for weight distribution AND to possibly adjust to clear the rear crossmember. Custom axels will have to be made, but I would have to get custom axels anyway.

    Do you mean hard to swap TO auto or FROM? I was thinking auto might be easier because of linkage. We built some mid-engine VW dragsters back in the day, and there was actually an aftermarket "turnaround" setup we bought for both of them. It was a pantograph-looking contraption that mounted to the nose of the transaxle.

    ...or is the tranny from the legend heavily electronic?
  • TO----> Auto
    The MT linkage for the 6 speed would be easy because it is all cable. All you would have to do is extend the cables to "bring it around" to the back of the car. The problem with the auto swap is the wiring and the shiftmatic BS.
  • Also the hard part of finding a J series compatible tranny just got easier. At first I thought the only tranny that would work would be the '03 Acura CL type S (only 5100 6 speeds in the USA) But I found out you can use a 03-06 6 speed accord (no LSD) or if you want LSD you can find a 04-06 base TL which has a LSD 6 speed.

    There was a shop in GA that built the "CRNSX" and it looks like they beat you to the punch by about 8 years or so...
