FYI U.S. NHTSA recall on 88-91 wagon seat belt buckles

I thought I would give all the Wagonists a heads up I think most of the 88-91 wagons have had a recall on seatbelt buckles. The easy way to tell is if your seat belts have black sleeves over the belt buckles. I would recommend calling your local Honda dealer and have them run the VIN to see if your wagon is still outstanding. This recall applies to all models of 88-91 Civics to my knowelge, but can apply to other years I'm not sure.

  • Hmm... My wagon has all brown seat belt assemblies....

BTW, Honda seat belts are warranted for life. I had an 88 Accord LX-i hatchback with the door mounted front belts. They didn't want to retract anymore and the dealership replaced them for free. I tried to get black seatbelts out of them, but they would only install the stock red color.
