So the best experience that I have ever had with automatic seatbelts... My uncle was taking one of our parrots out in the family beater DA9. Imagine a Blue and Gold Macaw perched on a DA9 Integra seatbelt, and then the automatic seatbelt assumes its position... As does my squawking parrot. It's definitely one of the funniest things I have ever witnessed in my entire life.
But yeah, in the G2's or the Wagon that I've spent time in, I find that it is hard to remember my lap belt.
HATE THEM!!!, i dont like how far back i have the seat ( have long legs) that the belt sits so far in front of me. 1) it feels so damn unsafe like its not doing anything or going to do anything. 2) it just bothers me to be honest with you. id much rather have the regular belts. and i to never use the lap belt.
I can't stand them! Half the time when I get in a car with auto belts, I forget to put the lap belt on.
With every car I have owned with auto belts, the first thing I do is make them manual. With the belts back, I pull the fuse out. Then you can buckle and unbuckle them manually.
waste of time, another piece of cr*p legislation hoisted on us the general public because a few don't bother to buckle up, same reason for the first generation airbags
they were made powerful enough to stop a non-belted user from being injured
we all know what happened, kids, smaller humans were getting killed by the 300km/h plus airbags
we have to stop thinking for everyone and let a few of the non-smart individuals move on to the next plane of non-existence
My GF and I like them in the '91, when we drive the '88, we sit there waiting for them to retract after the engine is turned off. I do agree with Deckard though, we're not doing the human race any favors by keeping the stupid alive and breeding. Oh yeah, it's "foisted" not "hoisted".

Hmm...this sounds like a possible option for me. Hadn't thought about that for some reason. What always gets me is when they start to move and your visor is to the left. Caught me off guard a few times.

Yeah, making them manual alleviates a lot of frustration and bruises. I had that happen with the visor once too. Ohh, the explicatives that were yelled at the designers of the auto belts that day!
The automatic belts are one of my biggest gripes with my '91. They lend a false sense of security that can lead to people forgetting to use the lap belt. That common scenario makes the system less safe than non-auto belts.
I also like the feeling of buckling myself in as part of a routine that focuses my attention on the task at hand: Driving.
i can vouch for this i got whacked in the head pretty bad from not wearing a lap belt because i felt like i had a belt on ( i think thats why it only lasted afew years)

It did take some getting used to though.. Hated them at first. But I never put my seat belt on..
I guess that is because I started driving before the seat belt law in FL. I grew up not wearing seat belts...
I have gotten 4 or 5 seat belt tickets..
I will never get a seat belt ticket in the wagon.
My passengers will never get a seat belt ticket either and that is their reward for the beating that the seat belt gives them.. LOL
