Engine swap question?!

Hey people, just got a quick question, which will determine as to wether i am buying a new wagovan today.

Ive found a 1300cc carby civic shuttle, and i was wondering, is it a large task to swap a carby engine out for a newer, say a dohc vtec engine thats (obviously) fuel injected? like would you have to change the fuel cell or fuel lines or anthing like that?

Cheers.

  • yes its a big jon i do believe they make a mount kit for it but thats the easy part the hard part is adding a ecu and all the wiring

hmmmm, but say you had a spare engine with full loom, ecu, and gearbox, would you not be able to just replace everything in it? or am i looking at this the wrong way haha?

Much of the fuel injection wiring is incorporated into the chassis wiring loom, so if you're comfortable adding these to your non-injected chassis, then fill your boots. What generation of chassis is it?
  • you would need what they call a stand alone harness when i worked at place racing we used to make them out of 96 civic engine harness and just convert them to obd1 but I'm not sure if anyone offers that anymore
