I put a D16Y7 head on an A6 block a while back. There is no off the shelf bolt set that fits. If I remember correctly one or 2 of the bolts were too long. I think initially I ended up buying extra washers from ARP to make up the extra length, but in the end ordered some shorter studs for those holes. Don't remember exactly what the setup is. Just a head's up though.

    that makes me question something.

could you tell me what the part number you got for the arp?
how long was your bolts in MM?

Well I know I initially bought the Y8 headstud kit. That made perfect sense to me, but then the holes in the A6 block were not as deep in a few places as the Y7/Y8 block. Honestly that was about 5 years ago, and I no longer have the stud information. I just measured how much extra length I had and ordered the stud shorter. I now recall having done some internet searching and found the info in some threads/posts about ARP studs for the DOHC ZC. I have the part number for the washers (wrote in right on the shelf above my work bench so I wouldn't ever lose it) but that's the best I could do.

After you get an idea of what you need, just call up customer service at ARP. They are very helpful and easy to deal with.
  • Lightning motorsports was recommended to me when I went to ARP head studs on my wagon. They sell a kit specifically for a D16Y8 head swap onto our A6 blocks.

i have been in contact with ARP.

they have some longer ones that may work with my setup.

    the size is 10m x 1.25 x 6.45 inches.
that the only one that will work with the D16A6 swap with the Y8 head i have now.
i would prefer to have the length at 6.75-7.0 inches.
