Hello, New to the form and have just aquired an 89 4wd wagon. Engine has a cylinder on its way south(this was not planed for when purchased). Interested in an engine replacement but do not have time or experience with these cars. Any body know of a shop/individual in NC that might might want the work? Any input? Thanks will D16Y7 work? one for sale nearby?

yeah, basicly any D series long block (block and head) will drop in, bolt up and work. Some are plug and play (like the 88-91) and some will need wireing work (92-00 some with VTEC ; )...
search www.honda-tech.com . Also http://www.rywire.com/store/index.php has plug and play wireing for almost any swap you want. you will need the ones for the 88-91 CRX/Civic SI to which ever swap you get.
The 92-00 SOHC VTEC D16z6 or D16y8 would be a nice upgrade (127 HP vs your 108) VTEC and endless aftermarket parts. The JDM version is the SOHC ZC VTEC. Another JDM alternative is this http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc200 ... item=30019

P.S. I think these guys are in one of the carolinas. I personally thing they are expensive, but they are a good company that has been around for a long time... http://www.importautosalvage.com/index.asp
