Will a DOHC ZC engine (no tranny) fit in my trunk

So I'm hoping to go pickup my ZC this weekend. Will it fit in the trunk of my 2000 civic sedan or do I need to take a bigger rig? Seems like it might be close, it would save me a good bit of gas if it will fit but would hate to get up there and find out otherwise....

  • I had a AE86 4age motor for sale and a guy came in a beat up 94 civic sedan. We got the motor and tranny (separated) in the car. We had to remove all of the accessories but we got it to fit. I would suggest taking something bigger because we kind of beat up his car trying to make it fit. Luckily the car was already a POS.

Take the spare tire out and title it. Should be ok, but no guarantees.

I helped a friend put an A6 into the back of a CRX once. Didn't think it would fit, but there was plenty of room.

post pics if you do it!
  • It will fit but good luck trying to lift it high enough to clear the rear of the car.
This is why my Wagon has a trailer hitch. I have a little 40"X48" trailer that I use to haul stuff like this.

I got a 4X8 utility trailer I could pull to go get it or could take my gf's ford explorer... sounds like one of those options might be the better bet. We'll see what happens, still a chance I might try it. Would hate to cross the border and drive the 2 hours to get there and have no chance of getting it in. I've had a couple of big things in that car that people said wouldn't fit. A 15hp long shaft outboard motor actually fits quite well with the seats folded down.

You can fit 5-6 DOHC ZCs in a Wagon... ;)

Just remove the passenger seat, put down some cardboard, and it'll fit.
