In need of some help

This is probably something really easy but I seem to be struggling. Whats the trick to getting the roll pin connecting the shift linkage to the trany out? I cant get it to come out to save my life lol. Thanks for any help I get in advance.

  • Thanks for the quick help. Never knew it was called the bitch pin. But it definitely deserves it lol. But thanks again.
  • I use a 1/4-20 carriage bolt that is about 4" long. The head on the carriage is easy to pound on and it goes right through the hole pushing the pin out. 8)
  • Thanks for the help. The bitch pin came right out with Sikocivic's method.

Now don't bash your fingers trying to get it back in.

Unless you're removing the linkage to replace it you can always just undo the other end of the linkage by the shifter and leave the other side connected to the tranny. That's how I do it when I do clutch jobs. Then after the tranny is off you can pull it out from under the car and get to the bitch pin easier if you actually have to undo it.

That's my quick pain/swearing free method
  • LOL oh I smashed the hell out of my fingers getting it back in, but its in now so its all good.
    thanks for the help

I just pulled the old D15 out of my hatch and had to remove the bitch pin..... I couldn't get it out from the bottom.

But I made a tool out of: a 2ft 1/2" extension, a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter, a 3/8" drive 12mm socket, a piece of paper, and a long tapered end AC compressor bolt. Put the piece of paper in between the 12mm socket and the AC bolt to hold it in place. Then I just used that and a big fucking hammer to pound it out from the top, took about 10 sec!

Not unless you accidentally break your throttle body/intake manifold with the hammer!
