Advice: how to make door close smoother

My front passenger door sags, and can't close properly unless you lift up while closing it. I searched around a bit and the little info I found just says to try tightening the 4 14mm bolts going to the door on the hinge.

I had a friend hold it up to take the weight off and loosened and re-tightened all the bolts and there was no change.

I have never taken a door off before, are there bushings of any kind on the hinge that can wear out?

thanks in advance

Don't know for sure if there are bushings, but you could easily replace the hinges themselves with ones with less slop.

cool thanks. new ones look pretty expensive so I think I am just gonna take one off a 4 door.

If i remember right they are the same

Take your fender off. Close the door loosen the bolts on the hinges. Take a paint stiring stick and break it into pieces. Place the pieces between the bottom of the door and the frame. Once you get the gap right re tighten the bolts. If this doesn't work the striker (piece the door grabs to keep it shut) needs to be adjusted. Look to see if the brackets holding the door have been moved down at all. Their might be a dirt line of where it used to be

I have the same issue with my crx. My door hinges are just worn out. I've since picked up 2 sets but both also have a bit of play. I ordered new ones through Honda since I plan to keep the car for years to come.

The way I figured out my door hinges were bad was that I picked up the door while it was open. You could actually see quite a bit of play. They are pretty easy to replace once you have the fender off :-)

Haha yeah, I can lift my door in the air majorly when it is open.

For now, I lowered the striker on the door jam and it closes nicely.

All the ones in the junkyard had some play in them as well.
