i made them in a hurry i still need to clean them up a bit...

i was gonna use thin wall exhaust pipe, but i didnt feel comfortable being so thin walled..i used a lil thicker pipe i had laying around in my dads shop.. it worked perfect the rubber bushings sliped right in as well as the shank washer that goes inside between the strut and the top hat.. total extension was 3in......

for the front off my wagon i am using sp-techs drop forks, da struts and s2 coilovers...
rear ef hatch struts, my top hats, and s2 coilovers.

i havent tried the set up as of yet(do to rainy weather) as soon as i do i will update!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

  • i did mine as well today ( saturday 20th ). took me about 2 hours to take out all four shocks and springs extend them and put it back together ! i also used a little thicker of a pipe but becasue it was free haha my dad had it laying around his shop. overall it made the ride feel almost stock...but you can still feel the big pot holes and bumps...other then those. railroad tracks manhole covers ect ect arent an issure any more !

yea round here we have fuct up roads so these will come in handy.....
my goal is to drop my wago as much as i can using my setup...( u know for us guys with more time then money)..lol

no bs i have 9 kids and all the money i can save always helps....

yea i could go buy an exspensive full coilover setup and save the hassle but weres the fun in that....
my boi jesse just bought the pic performance setup for his crx (witch will also work for the wagon) and rides f-ing good....
but he also dont wanna ride no were near as low as i wanna go..

what size pipe is that? you might need to grind down some of that weld on the bottom part so it can sit flush in the body.

Yea they r kinda ugly I did them n a hurry just fab them up... I am gonna make about 4 more pairs 2day. So that when I get ready to test fit for my setup I don't have to be trying to prefab as I go... the exact dia of the pipe I don't know I didn't measure it just made sure the bushings fit as well as the shank washer..

well i made 14 sets so far 1",1.5", 2",2.5", 3",3.5" 4".. i have made so many cuz some of my friends heard i was and started asking for some...lol i still have more to make this weekend... i am out of top hats now so i am going to the local yard and get a bunch..

i see of course everybody has there on way of making them but i feel comfortable with the way i am...

1 first i remove the studs( just to be on the safe side of not messing up the threads)
2 then i cut the WHOLE cup off
    3 smooth the cup out
4 even out the the surface on the hat( but not to much leave some meat to weld to)
5 took the cup and welded it to my pipe for extending
6 once welded i then mesure from the cup bach "x" amount of inches then cut
7 i take the piece that just cut off i then set it on the hat and level it( if unlevel i grind to make level)
8 once level i tac weld in place recheck level
9 if level then finish welding
10 finally clean up welds, reinstall studs then spray with gal-brite (gal-brite is to protect the metal) and repaint black

i hope this info well help clear up some questions u guys may have....

I've seen a couple of pics of people using little cut off wheels to do this.
    I removed studs.
And then made really quick work of this with the ol faithfull sawzall! Took about 30 seconds to cut each one :D .

Oh yeah. For the tubing i used 1 7/8 exhaust tubing. perfect fit and all the bushings slid right up inthere.
