Everybody is OK. Neither of us had any passengers. I thought it was clear to turn across a road at a green light, but didn't see the Acura MDX hiding diagonally behind the suburban I immediately turned after. I was going about 15, he was going about 50. His drivers side front corner hit my passenger side front corner and spun my car around. The spinning made the rear passenger side of my car hit the side of the MDX and I continued around in a just about a full 360. I'm all good except for what you can see on my leg, two puncture wounds, and my knee hurts like fuck, I'm going to the doctor tomorrow (this just happened about 6pm 3/17/10).

The accident was obviously my fault, and I don't have collision coverage, so I'm getting NOTHING from my insurance company. That sucks. I wonder how much I'll have to pay to keep the junked car??? I really need to pull a lot of parts off of it. The tow operator seemed pretty cool, so I think if I show up with a bunch of stock parts they will let me get some shit off of there (wheels, coilovers, stereo, header, etc....).

How not to roll your fender:

That's not the kind of tire clearance I was looking for.......
  • leWolfleWolf Senior Wagonist
So I'm glad to hear your ok, sad though another wagon is off the road for good though. Let's see if we can dig you up another wagon and get you rolling again.

To be honest with you guys I really want to find something a little newer to tinker with, like an EG hatch...... but I'm probably only going to be able to come up with about $1000, so I might just end up with whatever I can find that is Honda. There's a '94 Prelude Si with a busted rod bearing on craigslist right near me for $850... but I dunno about all that.... we'll see what happens after I beg my family for money.

At least you are safe! I got a wagon after a guy ran a red light and hit me in my ek. my back and arm still bother me some times. When I bought my ek back, the flat rate was %10 of what they valued the car at. But if you don't have insurance you will have to tow it from the yard to your house though probably...

If you don't have collision coverage on the car and its your fault then you pay nothing to get your car back. Its still yours. You only have to "buy it back" when the insurance company pays out for a totaled car. Get it towed to your place right away though. The towing company is charging you storage fees. They can add up pretty fast.

Well - at least you're alright dude!

I've got a "how I got my wagon from a wreck" story too! lol.

I had a '02 Lancer, this heifer turned in front of me and I couldn't stop. It was all her fault, broke my right wrist - still hurts me to this day and in May it will be 2 years it happened. But, because of the accident I gotz me a wagon and looooove it!
  • Damn! Good thing your alright. Sorry for your loss (Insert Oscar Nominated death scene here)

    Salvage what you can....

Thanks for the info! I just called the tow company, I got towed through AAA so there was no charge, and they aren't charging me storage fees either. I gotta try and get a ride up to the yard the car is at then wait around for AAA forever, but the car is still all mine.

    Anybody need some parts?
  • Glad to hear your okay. You should have just had the car towed to your house. Get the car from the tow yard asap. You don't want to pay all the storage fees. Good luck on whatever car you get next.

Good news on keeping the ride!

Vulture #1 ...and yes..I could use a good wiper motor if it will swap into an 86..should I would think..
  • udubrx7udubrx7 Senior Wagonist
I have no idea if that is swappable!

But let's save this marketplacing for another thread, I'll start one soon enough once I get the car back and get some better pictures of what is salvageable.
  • go easy champ...

Just got back from the doctor, they took some xrays and decided my knee isn't broken, so that's good! I'm going to get the car towed to my shop tomorrow I'll keep you all posted!

Thank you for the kind words!

    Glad that you're okay.

Definitely gonna second/third/fourth/? the whole towing the car to your house asap thing. Did that when I rolled my EK, saved me a bunch of money I would've had to pay the towing yard. I doubt you'll have to buy the car back since you're at fault and didn't have collision. It won't be much if you do, paid ~$180 for my '96 then got ~$600 from parting it out and the satisfaction of seeing it back on the road.

Sorry for your loss, I know all to well how it feels to lose a car
  • udubrx7udubrx7 Senior Wagonist
Yeh I'm pretty sad about the whole situation.

But it definitely could have been a lot worse, I'm super lucky I was hit on the passenger's side.

I called the tow company today and they aren't charging me for anything at all, no storage no towing (AAA took care of that) and he just towed my car out to the front of the shop. So I could call up AAA in the middle of the night and go pick it up if I wanted, but I'm just going to go get that taken care of tomorrow, they said I wouldn't be charged for this over night stay.

I just found an 89 hatch 5spd in the local classifieds and left the little old lady a message on her voicemail. I hope she didn't sell it yet, it runs and she only wants $500!

I hope it's a worthy replacement and that you get it! I'm real sorry to hear that, dude... Good luck finding another car, and hopefully a Wagovan will be in the cards again someday.
  • udubrx7udubrx7 Senior Wagonist
I will definitely own a wagon again someday. But it will definitely be AWD. Might be an RS6 though..... not a HCW
  • Glad to hear your ok :) . Sorry for the lose of the wagon :( .

Sorry to hear about your ride. I couldn't believe it when I saw this post and then looked at the pictures. Please reconsider a new Civic wagon. True wagonists are hard to come by and you seemed to be up to the challenge. Just give it a thought.
  • udubrx7udubrx7 Senior Wagonist
I'd love another wagon, but my problem is that I'm a delivery driver and now I don't have a car. So really I just have to get what I can ASAP so I can keep my job. I would get my rx7 running, but it gets terrible gas mileage so there's no way I could use it for delivery!
  • leWolfleWolf Senior Wagonist
Well if i find anything I'll pm you. :)
  • udubrx7udubrx7 Senior Wagonist
I appreciate it! I just found another hatch on craigslist its a dx 5spd 195k primered for $800 OBO, I'm gunna call him tomorrow. Still hoping to hear back from the old lady too.

Alex your avatar is hilarious!

Some good news! I'm going to look at an 89 hatch with 195k miles, its a DX 5 spd and it's owned by an ELDERLY COUPLE!! I hope it isn't just something their ricer grandson left sitting in their yard! Gotta love buying cars from old people..... they are usually practically still brand new! They are asking $500 so I don't expect it to be nice, but if it runs strong I'm a happy camper.
