Kuhnaydeein's '86 Civic Wagon 4WD

Bought it on the 26th for $550 plus $15 for the Trip Permit.

Mods:
Custom Made One-Off Apple Computer sticker in the back window.
Took the Roof Rack lateral bars off and put them into the back to streamline the look.
Put my Pioneer DEHP4600MP MP3 Playing Head unit in it.
2 Polk Audio 10" Subs in a Band Pass Box in the back.
2 Jensen 6x9" Speakers in Boxes in the back to either side of the Subs.
400Watt Rockford Fosgate Punch Amp for the Subs.

None of which is yet connected!

There are more pics than this one in the Photo Stream.

Look further back in the stream to see the pics of my other Honda, the 1980 Prelude.

    Macs rule. 8)

I was thinking: The Pop-up vents in the center of the dash would make a great place for a Pop-up-slide-out-fold-back 7" widescreen, touchscreen head unit. Just press the button on the dash, and the thing would pop up, the screen would slide out and fold itself back... How slick would that be?
Just throw a Mac mini in the glove box or mount it under the lighter/ashtray assembly on the dash...
Get the ol' wireless keyboard and wireless mightymouse, and i'd be set.

You can already tell I'm a big apple person, so I've already got the powerbook (writing this post while sitting in my car outside work as we speak, so to speak) that I lug arround (not really 'lug,' it's only a 12") and I've got an iPod with me too... so this thing has a few apples in it, it's not false advertising!
  • sweet im loving the apple sticker!!! i too have also thought of putting a mac miny in my wagon but only cuz my 17" mac book pro doesn't fit in the glovebox ^^
  • ehh... I'm confused as to why you would install a computer in the dash of your car. It's like installing a ping-pong table next to the toilet. You can't really do both things at once.   Other than map software, what would you use it for? Besides, these old Hondas are way too easy to break into. CRX's and hatchbacks get stolen ALL THE TIME. Just visit honda-tech... I see a different sob story about a stolen civic/crx almost daily, especially on the west coast.
  • How about an amped wireless set-up. You could pull up outside starf&*@ked and use their conection from the car. Games while you're stuck in bumper 2 bumper, or movies. There's plenty of reasons to have a Mac in the ride. I'm a Mac freak, and do consulting on the side. It would be so nice to have my database of info in the car so I could answer questions when clients call.

OOOh, you could use a cel hook-up straight from the car anywhere  .

Yeaaah dooode, it wood be siiick.

I don't think my 12" PowerBook would even fit in the glove box!

And, if I had a computer in Any car, I'd have the 'alarm' system do more than make noise. I'd have WiFi antennas mounted in the car (I'm thinking panels in the back-most windows) a Solar Panel hooked up to a battery backup and the car would never be offline. I'd have it all hooked up with a few cameras so if it were broken into, my car would eMail me pictures and alerts before the guy ever got his hands on the door handle, let alone the Mac mini.
  • Update:
Got the Pioneer DEH-P4600-MP head unit installed.
Got the pair of 6x9s installed.
    Got the alignment done.
    Got the tires balanced.
Got a sticker in the back window.
Added a blind-spot mirror to the driver-side wing mirror, and convex mirror clamped onto the existing rear-view mirror (now I can see past the apple sticker.)

    That's about it for now...
  • UPDATE: See the "Vehicles" Section of this Forum for information on the Prelude, because I'm getting RID OF IT!!! IT HAS TO GO!!! I'm going into the Air Force and can't store/repair/keep insured the poor old 'Lude!!!

I need to get it gone, like NOW!

    Great for PARTS!

    Great for Project!

Great little car at one point! Can be again, or it can be used for Many Good Parts!!!

Please look if you're in the Central Oregon area!!!
