Removing the headliner

Anyone have any experience doing this?

Is it held to the roof with clips?

    I removed mine a few months ago to recover it.

    You need to take the top and bottom plastic pieces (the ones around the windows) off, and then take the dome lights off, the two clips in the middle, the sun visors, the oh *sugar* handles, and the rear view mirror. After you get that off, it will fall down.

    Oh yeah, theres also a rubber strip at the hatch, slowly pull it off too.

    When you removed the headline, did you notice the electrical connection for the hatch? Where was it located?

    Would it be possible to remove just the mouldings around the rear windows in order to lower the headline enough to gain access to the connection?

    when i installed my roof rack i did just as Kahuna mentioned, popped out all the plastic trimming along the sides, the handles, dome light etc... then the headliner dropped about 3 inches.

    if you are very careful you can reach your hand underneath a good ways and also flex the headliner down a bit to access whatever it is you want to. i had to reach in when i was bolting my roof rack down. anywho... yeah.

    what exactly are you trying to do?

    oh, and the wiring more than likely runs along the side of the roof.
