RT 4WD Tranny + HF 5th Gear

So has anyone tried to put an HF trans 5th gear into a RT 4WD 6sp trans ? Would be nice to have the lower RPM's at highway speeds :D .

  • You'd be surprised that even though the RPMs are likely higher than you'd like, the load on the engine is probably less with the OEM 5th, and you'd probably get better gas mileage than you would with the HF 5th. In the case of the HF, Honda optomised the engine management and a vast majority of the other parts of the car for fuel economy at highway speeds for that particular configuration.

Be weary of the HF 5th, especially if there are any hills in your driving repertoire.
  • hf 5th will only drop your rpm about 300 @ 60 mph. trans calculator on d-series.org showed me that and i figured it wasn't worth it to me
