RTAWD manual to AT swap?

hi,

how extensive a project is it to put an AT in a manual RTAWD wagon? i have two wagons and want to figure out what would be involved here...

i won't be doing this but an idea of the scope of work involved would help me in negotiations with a garage if i pursue this idea (i would have to buy a manual RTAWD wagon first though).

thanks!

If you want to retain the 4WD.It's probably not bad 'cuz there's a AT 4WD Wagon.Or are you talkin about turning it into a 2WD Wagon?Best to have a donor Wagon. Here's some of the things you'll need:
    1)AT tranny
    2)Raditor or Trans cooler
    3)Maybe the half shafts
    4)Maybe the ECU for AT
5)AT shift linkages(The 4WD manual shift linkage is hard to remove).
6)Center console(unless you mod yours or don't care.
    7)All the pedal work
    8)Probably different mounts.
    9)Maybe a different center shaft.

I may have missed a few things.

    Good Luck.

It took me 3-4 months(of spare times & waiting for the rain to stop) to convert to a 2WD (from a 4WD).

Why you'd want to convert from manual to auto is beyond me but SiWagon is spot on the money.

i think its gona be hard to do a swap like that coz a lot of DIY threads would be for an AT to MT

He's got two wrecked auto/RT4wd's and if a clean 2wd comes along, he's wondering how hard it would be to drop the 4wd into it. I talked to this cat about buying one of his buggies for parts. I'm going to check them both out this weekend. He could get an auto 2wd and swap w/o too much hassle, right?

If you do that swap, I'll be interested in buying the 4WD components.
Transfer case, and maybe tranny. This would be for my hybrid CRX project.
    Tom.
