Damn sucks to see what happened to old blue. 'Luckily' you're in the right place to have 'bad luck'. I'm 1/2 bummed I don't still live in Charleston to stop over and enjoy the wagonness...the other 1/2 is the weather.
also got a code 43. Searches turn up "Fuel system" and most trails lead to O2 sensor. Here's the thing: No codes before swap. O2 sensor is new (1K mi, maybe). What else causes this MIL? I already checked my MPFI swap wiring, even switched the 2 added injector wires just in case i mixed them (even though I labeled them when I took them out.) I used all the same subharnesses I built for the tree-damaged car, so really all the wiring I did was just to repin for the 2 injectors and the CYP.
Idkwtf happened. All the signs pointed to O2 sensor, but it's like just a few miles old. I came home ready to swap my sensor in just to see. I alos got the troubleshooting flowchart for 43 today. So, following it I reset the ECU (AGAIN), ran the engine up to temp. then ran at 3000 RPM for 2 min to see if the MIL recurred. It did not.
Maybe we got some contaminant on the sensor? Maybe old gas from the new shell?
Installed bumper and headlights
Installed hood
Corrected camber @ left steer
Installed rear suspension, put leftovers back on ghost1
Adjusted rear brakes
Test drove: rotors make pedal pulsate. we'll need to change them.
I had such a blast at Import Alliance. and am so thankful I was able to drive my own car. Great meeting so many new people!
Here's prolly one of the best pics I got from IA and this was on the way home.
p.s. it's my birfday
happy late birthday!!
and that was one amazing job you guys did.
glad to see that you still have a blue wag!
congrats on the find and congrats on getting it all running
wow. it's been too long since i've posted anything in here.
she's running well .. but of course i've had some issues with her. and ever since i had to buy it after the whole tree limb fiasco, it kinda took most of my saved up money. sigh. but anyway.
few updates:
- i was having some problems starting the car - i'd have to push the clutch as far as possible + some, just to get it to start. then one night, we couldn't get it to start at all, so Rev roll started it. we call Bam, of course cause he's the man, and we come to the conclusion the clutch switch it messing up, so we just cut it off and now i have clutchless start
- my drivers side axle boot knuckle is broken, we finally found time to try and fix it and without the proper tools, aka air tools, we couldn't break the axle nut loose .. so that's still in the works. and due to me not having that fixed, i couldn't get an alignment and my front tires started showing the metal on the inside .
so now, i need the axle fixed, an alignment and 2 new front tires.... and i'm rollin' with 2 steelies on the front..
-i've been riding backseatless - which isn't a problem - i just haven't had time to roll up to Bam's and get things from the other wagon.. oh, life.
- i've gotta get my windshield replaced, still..
hopefully the beginning of 2011 will be a good year for my EE and me.
did a few things yesterday, nothing spectacular, but things i like. installed sedan rear mud flaps, a rear lip, and put steelies back on [...don't really like, but she looks like a sleeper!!]. going to try and sell my rota track r's as soon as possible to get some different wheels. i'll post some pictures soon!
