rear sway... rt4wd

So has anybody put something together as far as a rear sway for a rt4wd?
I've seen mention. Plans to try it, but no finished product.

That link is for FWD as far as i know.

I think the issue is that the sway bar fouls the diff.

I was messing with it but never did it, you are thinking of noahrexion.
  • I picked up a DA swaybar and LCA's.
I keep thinking about it but can't figure out a way to make it work. It shouldn't need to come back that far back to clear the pumpkin. There's no way i can think of extending the bar itself (welding and springs don't mix). As far as a short extension on the LCA's.... well that would create a twist on the LCA's, and the bushings would be shot within a couple of weeks if not sooner.

So... mabey finding a bar from a different car, never intended for honda's is the ticket. Of course the thought of laying under 10's if not 100'a of cars in scrapyards doesn't sound like a task I really wanna sign up for. But i bet there's a stock bar out there that would work well!!!

Shenrie did it as well. turbo_teg owns the car now. Maybe worth asking.

Save yourself the headache and get the ST swaybar. No drilling, no riggin... I got the idea from another HCW member here. It bolts up fine but you mount the bushings on the backside of the brackets.

You can sorta see what I am talking about here.

It'll be plain as day when you are putting it all together.
If you need help, just holler. I'll do what I can.

Blinging exhaust and sway bar looks good!
  • so the st swaybar with the rtawd lca will work??? or am i missing something...
  • The ST swaybar kit has a bracket that bolts to the bottom the shock mount where it attaches to the LCA, and the endlink bolts on there. No need for LCAs with sway bar bolt holes.

The kit comes with everything you need, even the L brackets. Just remember to thoroughly grease the bushings before tightening everything down.

  • Has anyone actually installed a ST bar on a rt4wd car? (I think shenrie had a Progress bar...) I've got one on my fwd and can tell you that the bar sits really close to the cross member that holds the rear dif.

So I talked to to a local shop, he said ST bars are top of the line. But he did say that that it would be on the aggressive side (more designed for track than street).
So hows it feel for a Daily driver. The road around here are pretty bad. Don't wanna end up with a bar so stiff that I'm lifting a wheel on some of the crazy shit in the roads around here.
also, is there any adjust-ability to there bars?
  • JesseCRXJesseCRX Council Member
    The ST bar is adjustable.
I have mine on the most aggressive setting for the simple fact that my wagon has a shitload of roll and understeer. Not anymore though.

I just drive very conservatively. Besides, since I rock a stock motor I can't really haul ass anyway lol!
  • yeah, a bar that big/stiff is aggressive. If you slam the brakes while turning, the ass end might come around on you... I don't know what your susp. setup is now, but a big rear bar is a finishing touch item. Get good struts, springs, tires, alignment, brakes, etc before adding the rear bar. When everything under the car is in good shape, adding the bar should make the car feel MUCH more stable in turns and mostly eliminate body roll... even with the suspension lowered and more stiff already. You'll love it.

Geez, a 22mm bar. haha, good thing it's adjustable. Is this the only known rear sway that works with the rt4wd? Also, where are you guys getting the ST rear sways from? Directly from their site or is there another online retailer?
  • I'm lookin at the picture of the bar mounted. I'm gonna pick one up. My only question is if it will fit with a stock muffler and midpipe?
I replaced both and don't wanna do any cutting modding to make them fit.
  • klumklum Senior Wagonist
can someone with the ST sway post pictures mine doesnt fit , doesnt clear the difff mount
  • turbo_tegturbo_teg Council Member
mine has about a 2" spacer to make it fit. way way better than my old wagons hokey ass DA rear sway bar set-up i can come into a corner goin way way faster than i should let off ass ends slides around the corner then jump back on the throttle and she straightens right out a lil scary at first but once u know how it feels u wont go back. its kinda funny when a buddy drives my wagon they get all spooked they just never had anything more than a stock rear sway bar....
