RT4WD -> FWD

Wagonist
Guys,
I'm still keen on finding myself a Shuttle (ps: I still hate you all) but I've been hearing some disturbing comments from some of the locals in the car industry down here. Comments like "the extra weight of the 4WD aint worth it", "too hard to find parts", "too hard to work on" etc. The general concensus is that I shouldn't buy one...
...which just makes me want one even more.
So my question is this, we only ever got the 4WD shuttle down here in australia (IIRC), so when I eventually buy one of these beauties and lets say after a while the 4WD drivetrain breaks and there are no more parts, in a worse-case scenario, will I be able to salvage parts from other hondas (ie: convert it to a FWD?) purely to keep the wagon going (forever)?

Or, you could just ship the replacement parts from Strong Honda in NZ.
