Step by step help for a newb plz

Okay I know a good bit about cars but I have little real experience with them.
I need to change my head gasket (1989 Fwd), could someone take me through a step by step so I make sure I do this right, I got the valve cover off and stopped there, lol. Thanks

BTW, when I get it back on the tourque specs are 22 then 49 right?

    A good shop manual would take you through the steps and would be good for future reference

    Yeah, but Im very short on cash as of now, and I need a driving vehicle. If some one could scan in that section of a manual that would be awesome too.

    check the faq and links section, I believe there is a pdf on the net somewhere that has the tsm instruction for a head gasket job
