random question about intake sounds...

ok you know that noise that you hear while idling with a cold air intake installed??? its like a vacuum sucking noise??? and then when you shut the car off it makes an air release sound??

well my car was doing this, but the other night i was driving on freeway and when i got off the freeway my car just died... so i started it back up, it seemed fine and it hasn't died since, but now there is no intake noise at all. a

what all of this rambling is about is i want to know if you guys think something is wrong with the car or if im just trippin

  • Did you check to see if your air filter is still installed on the end of the intake pipe? Could you have possibly ran through a puddle of water when your car shut off? This happened to a friend of mine with a cold air intake when he drove through a puddle and the engine sucked some water. Luckily it wasn't enough to hydro lock the engine but it did cause it to shut off.
  • honestly everyone i have asked, asked the same question back about the filter being there lol, but yes the filter is still there... as for the water there is no way i sucked up any water... thanks for the heads up though...
  • On my EG6 there was a kind of "trumpet" sound every time I shut off the car. I asked a thousand times, I dismounted all the intake manifold, changed all the gaskets and O rings... But the noise still there.
I heard the problem is common, but I never found how to fix it.
