Fitting a B-series in a RT/4WD

As I couldn't find a thread specifically relating to the subject, I wanted to start one, as they're a possibility I will have an engine-less 4WD (EE4), and a friend has a B16A2 in his garage that needs a home.

I'm guessing D-B engine mounts are needed... will the alternator fit in, or does that need moving slightly? And OBD1-ODBO harness?
What about driveshafts, and the 4WD system? Aftermarket header fitment?

Thanks,

marC

The 4wd system won't work unless you install a full CRV drivetrain. You'll need some custom work done for the right side mount cause it's different than the 2wd one. You'll need different axles, different shift linkage (possibly converting to a non cable style), and of course new ECU. You can convert to obd1, but it's not necessary.

Wooo, sounds too much work for what I was thinking.

    That's a shame :(
  • Other than the CRV transmission and a little jigging to get the Wagon driveshaft to fit the flange on the CRV transmission (they're different), you would have to perform the regular D to B conversion stuff, and fabricate something custom for the right side mount (as mentioned above). There are a few people here (Shenrie being one of them) that have done this, so it should not be that difficult to get the information you require.

RT4WD already has cable shifter, so that's not an issue.

I dont have access to fabbin stuff up etc, just tools
it was just a thought as i have both an engineless wagon and a b16, but i think ill hunt for a Z6 or something

going down to the scrap yard and getting the CRV tranny will be a nightmare, way too much work for a quick buck or two.
