No clutch or start.please, help me, please!!!

ok so now my wagon wont start again. was running good a couple days ago, then yesterday it was getting harder and harder to put into gear. was also hard to start. almost have to push the clutch pedal into the engine compartment. so this morning i tried starting and nothing. it will not even turn over. the starter does not spin. wont even click. so i took it in, and checked out good. so that is where i am now, dont know what else to look at. isnt there a switch or something for the clutch pedal to engage the starter?? help me please, i have finally found a job and need my car by weds. so any help will be very much appreciated. thank you.

Could be a bad clutch pedal sensor. Your car/starter won't turn over if the car things the clutch isn't pushed down. There is a sensor on your pedal assembly that does this, it could have gone bad, or is sticking and not allowing your starter to go. Only other thing I can think of would be ignition switch.
  • Your shifting and clutch pedal issues could be the pedal assembly that has broken. There's lots of info here about that if you search. Maybe if the pedal is messed up enough, it's not touching the clutch switch anymore, which will lead to the clutch interlock not allowing the starter solenoid to energize.

You can bypass the clutch interlock switch: Find the switch by looking under the dash above the clutch pedal pivot. It's a gold-colored bullet-shaped thing with 2 wires. You can unplug it and put a jumper in the harness plug, or cut the plug off and twist the wires together.

NOTE! This switch is installed as a safety feature, to prevent starting the engine with the transmission in gear. A LOT of them have been disabled, but do so at your own risk. FWIW mine works as intended.
  • had the same issue... bypassed the clutch switch and had to adjust the clutch cable
