    1) Try backing the brakes off a little on the rear. While you have the drums off look around for anything may have been rubbing (shiny spots?) Make sure all the springs are on and correctly installed. If you're not sure what to look for, jack up and support the rear of the car and remove both drums to compare.

2)... and maybe should be #1... Make sure it's coming from the rear. That sounds like classic disc pad wear indicator "squealer" noise.

Oh, and welcome to THE forum

and thank your for the welcome

oh and wouldn the squealer noise also squeel when you apply preasure to the brakes?
    become even louder? or nastier.
  • No. The front disc brake pad wear indicators are specifically designed so that they stop squealing when you apply the brake, making it much easier to diagnose worn brake pads. Do you trust the person that said your front brakes are new? Did you pay to have them done yourself, or are you going on someone else's word? I would stick my head under the car to see how close the squealers are to the brake disc. They are usually at the top of the brake pad, on the inside of the brake rotor.

Listen to bam-bamabout the springs. The trick of doing the drums to do one side at a time or take a pic of it.The brakes may work, but if the spring is turned 180 deg.....noise :x

ok got a familly known mechanic to come by and see the car
apperently the brakepads crystalized and he cleaned them they were not even half way done so brake pads were good
then he bled out the caliber no air in it
and after it was the wear sensor was lose and thats what made the sqeal noise it would hit the caliber and squeal
tightened it up and so far theres no sound.
