Hail from New mexico

Hey everyone I bought an '89 2wd wagovan 2 months ago and I like it, I've owned so many hondas, Eg's, ef's ej's em's just happy to be with this one. All the honda rice around here can't respect it, they think its whack lawl. But its cool, if they're not careful I'll pour water on their cars and watch the flat black fall off and reveal green EG's. I had a b16 I was going to rebuild and put in it, but I decided to go the D route, so I have a y8 with a z6 head, waiting on gaskets and stuff, and also picked up a TE-05 saab turbo that I'll eventually put on. The board said if you're new, introduce yourself so thats what im doing. About 4 days I picked up another Wagovan, a '90 with an automatic, I'm either gonna replace the transmission or part it out, not sure yet. Anyhow, here are some pics.

  • Cool - another collector... :)

What is the story on the 90/91 automatics?

Does anyone know if they last, are repairable or findable in the junk yards? Are all four years the same? do other models use the same automatic?

    Welcome,
    Dave

From what I've experienced, once a early model Honda automatic goes down its best to find a replacement instead of rebuilding.

    Oh and Welcome Plateus!!

Hey thanks guys. As far as I knew 89-91 automatics in civics/wagons were the same, but I dont really like honda autos, The best way I've found to identify the difference in the automatics, is to look at the transmission shift solenoid(s). Few civics used the dual solenoid set-up, most of the time all I've found is the single solenoid ones. Yesterday when I was browsing my local junkyard, I probably found like 15 automatics, so I figure I'm just gonna replace the transmission from an auto civic and sell the auto wagon for some extra cash, I'm not up for doing a 5spd conversion, and I'm happy with the '89 M/T wagon that I have.
