Day in day out, what's your wagon's purpose?

mine is the little car that thinks it's a truck.

if you hit the seat with your hand a massive cloud of drywall dust will explode out of it.
yes, those are my kickass magnesium stilts with custom fab snowboard binding straps. best ever.
i can also haul 8' sticks of corner bead inside. 9 & 10' require sticking out the pass window a bit.

i know some of you are shaking your heads, "that is a mess." you would be correct.

454,000kms, driven daily carrying large amounts of crap.

Mine is my daily right now. Currently getting ready to do some overhaul work on my Sedan. Mainly got it cause of the Idaho roads and winters, it's nice to have a 4wd in the winter. I play to AutoX the wagon next year as well as make a trip or two to the Oregon Dunes.

    Chassis - 202k, Motor 600miles
  • I have a truck so I would never abuse my wagon like in the pics above.

It's nice to have all the room the wagon provides though. I got mine for winter DD use. For summer DD I have a Zuma 125 that gets about 95 mpg. I'd be driving it now, but I've been riding for about 15 years now, and riding in the freezing rain or just cold in general gets a little old.

i think... yes... i think i take offense to that. my wagon receives more TLC than most... see 'biggest restoration ever'. you don't get a chassis to 453,000kms without a lot of care. all that stuff i haul isn't that heavy either, no different than carrying 2 adult passengers. But yes, it is messier than an atlantic oil spill, and would probably take longer to clean up.

Mine's purpose is transportation. It takes me wherever I want to go, with all my stuff. A car is a tool, and much like any other tool, one you like is a pleasure to use.
  • Don't worry about it my man. It's your car after all.

Mine is just the daily back and forth where ever I need to go! The look on people face's when they see a wagon slammed is priceless. I just smile! :)

Right now my RT is the daily beater, and strikingly enough has been the most reliable/capable car I've owned.

I really would like to put some work into mine, but at the same time I want to buy a really clean RT4WD to do up proper, slammed, turbocharged, mean wheel/tire package, something that looks as good as it moves. My gold beater will stay the "tow" vehicle until I get a truck.

Mine is used as a daily beater..... but I'm going to look at a rusty RT on sunday.. for $500.00 it may just be the new beater and I will sell the 2wd :)
  • Work/school taxi on the weekdays, grocery getter on the weekends. In November, it'll be a demonstration model for a local high school. I'm hoping they invite me to the Thanksgiving parades -- someday.
  • Mine is a mainly used to haul trash to the dump (yes, we live far enough out in the sticks now that we don't even get trash pick up  ) and occasional garage sale runs. Maybe someday it'll take over daily duties, but it's got a bit to go.

wish i had a pic of last winter i pulled outlike 10 cars in one night.

they all said the same thing to me after thankyou " what is that? a toyota or something" nope honda civic " is it really 4wd?" yes sir. " well thanks again"

lol not to be a heater but most of them were vw people
  • ^What are those wheels from?
  • My 89 wagovan is my daily driver. i have a 40 mi. round trip to work so I need to get good mpg! I also use my wag for hauling what needs to be hauled from ford FE engine blocks (heavy) to
friends and family. We brought the door header boards (18') for my garage on top of an 83 civic wagon my friend had at the time.
They were made to work ya know.

    ya, they look huge.

they are 16'' mini wheels off a 04 it think it was with winterforce tirec i got for free and i put some coil spring knots in all 4 struts to get a little more high out of it and since i made it threw a few winters no issues and pulled alot of cars out of snow pile and i have had it in the woods million times and pulled a few jeeps out the mud.

but i am thinkin about pullin the wheels and coil spring knots and maybe lowering it a lil and some 14'' wheels lose the monster wagon look.

tommrow i am puttin some DA seats in it and a new front bumper going to fix the rear bumper and give it a really good clean job inside it looks worse then the first one posted up there i will make a new post in the member rides after itall done.
  • Mine is my DD, taking me to and from work Monday to Friday, roughly 820 miles every week. Plus add another 100-300 miles on the weekend for my sons' soccer games. The wagon also hauls my bikes, parts from the salvage yard, recyclable items to the recycling center, snowboards for me and my kids during winter.

My wife doesn't understand how my interior gets so dirty with garbage during the week when I'm the only one who is in it.

    Wagon's purpose? Everything!!
I purchased it when my DA got placed into the garage and I've fallin in love with it.
It get's me to work, friends house's, junk yard runs, skate trips, hot box sessions, you name it!
I absolutely can not wait for winter!!!
Got my Seasons pass to the Summit at Snoqualmie, anyone else ride?

I love seeing the fact that you actually use your cars, that's waht they are made for!

Yesterday I removed the passenger side seat & the rear seat bottoms. I came to the realization that nobody but myself should ever even be in that car anyway, it should probably be a registered 'disaster' area. Now i keep dropping things on the floor beside me, the screwdriver i now use to start my car, for example.

I am going to the wrecker today for a new blower motor, maybe i'll see if they have some DA rear shocks/springs to stiffen up the rear for the weight i am always hauling around.

bought it for winter (4wd), for more fun and ice track. And also winter daily, I don't plan to use it this summer unless I need more than 2 seats/a trunk or if my mr2 is being repaired/upgraded, before I had a geo metro 1.0 (would have like a justy 4wd to replace it, but hard to find) so I was driving it most of the time to save money, but the civic (4wd carburetor 1987) sucks almost as much as the mr2 (when I drive it cool), so I have no point driving an old underpowered car in summer.
  • nice two lug thugin there

I also have various trucks and vans so would never need to use my civics that way. I use mine as cheap, convenient, reliable transportation. It's nice to have the room to move a bar fridge on the fly or if someone throws out a solid maple chest-of-drawers that only needs to be refinished!
