Lowering the stock seats ?

Anyone sucessfully lowered the front seats?
Feels like I'm driving a bus but want to keep the stock ones.

Have taken one apart and it's not looing too good.
Have tried sculpting the foam so I'll sit about .5" lower, hammered the hell out of the metal base so the foam sits lower into it, about another .5" and then hope to raise the mounting rails into the base.

Is there a tried and trusted method ?

Yea I would like to know this too. I love my stock seats, but want to lower them. I've been looking for aftermarket low seat rails, but the only ones I fine are for racing/bucket seats.

if your handy with a welder you could just make up some brackets, to iliminate the OEM bases, but then they would be fixed.

i dont like the stock seats, im going to fit CRX ones in my RT I think. as they have a more similar bolt pattern to shuttle, civic HB's just wont work

Yea I figured somewhere later down the lines after I get other stuff done, I'll see if I can get something done. But thats the plan, keep the stock seats, just lower them.

    haha yeh me too.
im 6'5 and the seats dont go back far enough
  • Even at my 6'2" the seats don't go back for enough. Although I must say that Hondas provide surprising leg room anyway.

I'm also disappointed that the front seats don't fold all the way forward! I'm just too accustomed to VW Bug seats, I guess. Makes it easier to haul some long boxes, and to reach the rear floor for cleaning and inspection.

I'll have to compare to the CRX ones. I have Both but need to pull the crx one out.
But TBH the thing which fscks it up is the clearance with the bases becasue tehy are different heights.
Take one out and copmapre to CRX.
If you have have one spare (It wouldn't surprise me) then it would be nice to know the crx bases are lower. At least it's a starting point !!
