Goldie does look tough up like that did the Rear End kick in with that rear tire off the ground going up there...?

Oh, yeah. The rear was pulling, but with two open diffs you won't get far crossed up like that. Funny, the front wheel on the ground was spinning during this.

Omg, I cannot believe how badass you are. :encouragement: All of that work is amazing, love looking at all your pics of the work you have done!! Very sweet car, I love it!!
  • how much would it cost to sell that beast? Or make another one? If you don't mind give me a ballpark price.

10K. I told a local guy the same, and he came up with 9400.

    I still have the car.

I've been preparing for the run up to our meet in South Carolina. Monday night I wired in a trailer light converter for the camper lights. Decided to use goldie to pick up some parts for the 4runner project.

Then Tuesday night I replaced an axle that had a ripped boot.

went out test-driving afterwards and fried the alternator I guess. Bumped up against the rev limiter a time or two, and the battery light came on. Headlights were flickering, water injection kit flashing a voltage code... I figured She'd slung the belt. Went ahead and dropped Dad off and came back home to check it out. Turns out it's OVERcharging.

    And that is the truth.

I dont think the guy knew what hit him when I followed you from dad's house, you pulled out and I pulled out. Two wagons blowing in front of him.

Do you have a build log for the 4runner yet?
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Nah, it ain't really a build so much as it is a repair. It'll probably end up being Dad's daily driver if he wants it.

voltage regulator i bet. same thing happened to my last alt.

picking up one of these next time one goes down

Interesting. I'm actually using a '92 Integra alternator, it's the only one I could fit. I'm sure the same folks make one for my app too. As it is though, it's a reman with a warranty, so back to O'reilly we go!

In fact, I just finished swapping it out. Had to remove the axle and halfshaft to get it out the bottom.
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Dangit. The axle I put in has vibrated from day one. It was a used one from my hoard. Have another new reman warranty that I'll try next. Not right now, though. I'm DDing this one while the cnotecivic replaces pebbles' wrecked Del Sol.

Sucks it was totaled.. Glad she was fine..
Do you need another wagon for her? Or is she getting a convertible?
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
What she wants changes daily , or as soon as I figure it out... Whichever comes first.

Probably another Del Sol. Keep your eyes open for a clean shell. And I don't mean kid "clean"! I there's any evidence that it's been owned by someone under 30, I'm out.

Meanwhile, she'll probably drive the 4runner I'm finishing up.

Scored bigtime at the junkyard yesterday! Funny enough, from a tip simplyhonda got on FB. Dang, this social media BS does have a redeeming quality...

Got a very nice carpet, a pristine brown seat, a perfect brown dash, a right side mirror, a driver's seatbelt, and a pile of mechanical and electrical goodies.

Finally.....just finished reading this entire post... and I have to tip my hat to you sir. I know body lifts aren't easy and nor suspension lifts to boot. This thread definitely kept my eyes open and gears turning though. My better half has been trying to get me to sell the parts wago and all the beloved items I have acquired over the years. Basically, she feels that I'm getting tired of moving them from place to place, but I'm the only one moving them! Getting pretty good @ using a hand truck, a ratchet strap, and sheer muscle/balance to move a complete D16A6 with a RT4WD A/T attached up a Uhal ramp. Any who, I think the rally approach to my winter wago and like others mention, a sleek OEM lowered daily for the good seasons.....BUT not low, getting older ya know.
Again, thank you for doing this remarkable/couldn't be done build along with other past builds/threads you've done....especially with the helping hand you offer to other enthusiasts local or not. For that we ALL say thank you.
    :applause:
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Thanks for reading it through. I get a lot of "hey bro, what tires and wheels can I bolt on to lift mine like that?"questions. Granted, the body lift is a bit extreme, but that's my thing. I like to be pretty sure I won't see anything like me at the meet!

Helping each other along should be what we're all about. That's what makes this community.
