Not sure about that, but I do have the parts to make it happen if the need arises. I thought about just welding up a viscous coupler to try it...that way the stock driveline can be used. This pile will be daily driven, though. I'm not sure I want to beat on the tranny that much.
baby steps today:
that's just tacked up. I'll bolt a driveline in it tomorrow to get the spacing right, then sew it up.
Looks kosher enough for me. I agree, the first pic looked kinda weak, but its looking much more durable in that last pic. I would say just make it beefy so you know it won't come apart, and it should be good...
I would imagine if you went with a solid driveshaft, it would be even tougher to drive, with big ass tires and no power steering.
I'm glad I waited to put the actual coupler assembly in place before welding. My eyeball and plumb-bob method was just enough off that I would have been re-drilling.
Here's my undercarriage coating of choice
Look how nice the VC on the right is compared to the other
see how the left/leaking one even has the barcode label melted? That may become the solid one 8)
Damn, did it? I didn't pick through them, Just sent one.
Making mounts tonight, working inside the house.
This stuff is MESSY
one tube was enough to fill all of the rear diff mounts and 2 of the engine mounts. I have another tube, but am waiting for a front transmission mount. When I get that one, I'll fill it and the left engine mount.
where'd you get it? my diff mount needs it done so terribly bad. And what the heck is that one with the pin in it?! i saw that when mine was up the other day. is it supposed to just slide around in there?
I hope it holds up well. The guy who does all of our windshields at work gave it to me.
That big bar is just a counterweight, I assume, a damper. And no, it shouldn't rattle.
my counter weight when i bought jane was metal on metal just bouncing around in there lol. i did the same thing filled it with poly and went to town on the rest of the mounts! The windshield urethane should hold up to anything you can throw at it. I used something a little more solid or "hard" than urethane but its pretty much the same stuff all the way around.
Still thuds. Mine does anyways. I tore mine apart last week and I understand why he did it. The actual "subframe" it's self bounces around On them. The "U" shaped bracket that the diff mounts up on, that's actually what causes the thud due to worn out bushings between the subframe and the chassis. Mine were flat as a pancake lol
Yours however is so far away from the chassis (I think, I'd have to go back and look, on iphone now) I don't think it would be An issue.
Also, my wheels were delivered to the shop after I left work today. So tomorrow we'll have some good pics!
And one more thing- I had a brainstorm about how to easily add strut length without needing a machined spacer like Morty's slick pieces. (Not all of us have a machinist BIL :P )
Please tell me that box didn't arrive looking like that (corner looking like a muskrat got at it)! If so, is everything in good condition?
Yes, the box was damaged. I could stick my hand in the hole. I don't think anything inside was damaged, though. You had plenty of packing material in there.

... I didn't think so. Damnit, mine is loose as can be. Is there supposed to be rubber in there from the factory? Damnit, all this maintenance things I need to do! (Between this car and my Powerstroke).
