Will 175 front tires rub?

I just picked up some older Plymouth wheels for free. The fronts have 175 tires, and the rears are 155's like on my car. Will the 175's fit on the front without rubbing? I'd love to have just a little bit more grip on the front end. Anyone know?

Thanks.

It's an '85. Sounds like it will work, if you can fit 195's or even 225's, then 175's wouldn't have any issues.

I'm running 185-60-14 right now and have tried 195-55-14 and 195-50-15 in the past with no problems.
And mine is a 84-87 model also.

i assume you want to make it push less look into stiffer rear springs or a rear anti roll bar

Try not to exceed OE diametre too much and the same goes for width... you'll start getting alot of 'tramlining' if the tyres are too wide and if the tyres are too tall you'll loose the nice short final drive that our smaller cars have. You'll also start putting the speedometre out if you go much taller.

225 is going overboard... if you really want that extra grip try 16/215/45 - its within a few mm of OE diametre and won't tramline as much as 225's.

To answer the original Q... 175 is fine. :D

    i ran 205 60 16's but mine was raised up .. a 205 50 or 195 55 16 would work i think

  • i'd go 215's..on the Honda..
    215/40/16's or 17's..but no larger than 17's.

i wanna go up 16 tho. 15's are great, dont get me wrong. but i want something to fill the tire well a bit more. maybe at the end of the summer, i'll sell my 15's and buy some clean 16's.....
