The Great Del Sol Seat Install

I decided not to install racing seats into the wagon because of comfort. They are so hard to get in and out of.
Instead I decided to install del sol seats. They are so comfortable and the keep you well positioned.
Here is a detailed list of what it took to get this done.

What you will need.
12mm and 14mm socket
Welder
Grinder/Cuttoff tool
Drill and bit
Marker
Del Sol seats with sliders

Start by removing your wagon seats. Then remove your sliders. The large/tall one that is closest to the door
you can set this one to the side. We will work on this one latter. Take the smaller one that is the one
closest to the ebrake. Remove the bracket from the slider. You can drill, grind, and use the cuttoff tool to
accomplish this. There is only one.

ignore the bottom bracket as you have not gotten this far let.

Now take the corrsponding del sol slider and remove the brackets from it. There are two.

Here is the smaller one.

You are now going to weld these onto the wagon slider. Start with the bigger one. This will go onto the back of the
wagon slider. Just line it up to the back on the slider and use the holes that you drilled to get the slider
off to weld the bracket to the wagon slider.

Once Welded it should look like this.

Now bolt this onto the del sol seat. Take the smaller bracket and bolt it to the del sol seat. Get it to lay flat
on the wagon slider and mark it so that you can weld it to the wagon slider.

Weld it on. Once finished it should look like this.

Now lets move onto the larger wagon slider and bracket and the del sol seat. There is a large bracket on the del sol seat.
You can drill holes out on the bracket attached to the seat and bolt the wagon slider to it. Here are the holes I
drilled.

Then bolt wagon slider and bracket to del sol bracket

Installed in car. Dont worry I will take more detailed pics in the morning.

Thats it. Now just repeat steps for other seat. Total install time should be about 2-4 hours. It took me longer
to figure out just what I was going to do.

Have fun and enjoy you new seats.

nice work man. ive been fabbin' some seat rails this week too, for my HB.

im thinking of putting CRX seats in my Wagon. they seem to have very similar bases
  • Hope you don't mind but I have added this to our interior quicklinks.

How is the seat positioning compared to the Civic? Does the power seatbelt work with no issues?

I actually have a del sol seat sitting in my living room to put in my wagon but i do not have a welder so it is put on hold (and is being used as a gamer chair  for the time being)

Looks like a lot of work. Reminds me of fabbing my Del Sol seats to fit in my Civic HB a few years back (pain in the ass)
  • I decided to move to manual belts as my power ones no longer work. It would be very easy to use the one nut that is already there and make an extra bracket to use the power belt assy. but I did not go that route.

As far as seat installs go its about 4 of out of a 5 only because you do have to cut and weld. But its still pretty easy

Sorry to bump an old thread. I am actually in the middle of this.

Did the sliders line up correctly when installed? I'm thinking they won't be perfect and will probably test fit them in my car while lining everything up.

Figured out a way to do it without having to weld. Probably safer too :).

    I'll post pictures later.
  • ARE DC2 SEATS JUST AS EASY
  • seats look great dude im actually lookin for some seats to do in my wagon. i just have a few questions do they sit lower than stock and if not hows the head room?
  • will it work with the seat pan swap?
  • not sure....this is was the best way for me to do it. BTW my welds have never failed not worried about those at all.

Great project and step by step instructions. I'm having my seats replaced in my 1991 civic wagon but made the mistake of not checking on the forum first in stead of picking a good looking pair of seats out of the junk yard. Thank you for sharing excuse the caps i'm 71 years old and can't see well the small letters
