Oh the rust is there. I have repaired one side with new metal but the rust is starting to come through other spots. I think I have found metal flares from another car that are wider that I am thinking about trying out. That is the reason for the flat black arches. I have repaired what rust I could but it seems like a battle I am not going to win. So if I find a better shell in the next few months then the wagon fun continues.
Here are the pics again for those who don't want to flip back a page.
Why are you like the only one who posts in my thread
Because most of us quietly stalk your car.
If you leave the wagon game, I'm leaving the wagon game. Sort of a murder-suicide if you will.
Dont do it!
If the car was 'finished', I'd say ok. But you never put the turbo motor and shit in. This would go down as a loss for all of us if you give in before it's 'done'.
If you are going to leave you better go out in a blaze of glory.....
You better be speeding down a highway with wads of cash from the bank you just knocked off flying out the windows, you're swerving because the 2 butt-naked French prostitutes you just picked up won't get off your lap, and the scene where he spills all the cocaine in the car in Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas <--- yeah the hookers are doing that also, you are screaming "Bat Country!", gunfire, explosions, police interceptors, MAD FUCKING MAX style, cars flipping off the roadway, running into trucks on small Italian roadways like the chase scene in Quantum of Solace!!!!!
Then two days later a little old woman backs into your wagon at a grocery store and the insurance company writes it off as totalled.
I don't think you should leave, might as well just hang around with us for awhile longer. I know we are not as much fun as french prostitutes but what the hell !
You guys are nuts makes it hard to leave this little community.
Trust me I am hoping that a nice little wagon pops up somewhere, but the wife said if I buy her another wagon it won't be the same. She has fallen in love with her little red wagon and due to a military goof up the car is now in limbo. Kind of like it has never existed. That is one of the problems we are having. It looks like if I finish the car I will never be able to register it, hence I will never be able to drive it.
Lets hope a perfect little wagon pops up with no rust.
Maybe we will continue the build on the red one, and when a good wagon does pop up we can just transplant all the parts. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Hey Charb there must be a LOT of people secretly stalking my car then so I changed the title to see if I can get some more motivation to keep on going with it. Just so much going on right now and not a whole lot of time or funds.
Perhaps i missed it, but what're those flares off?! I want some for my sedan.
The flares are said to be universal. Spend your money on some good ones. These were part of a group buy and required a LOT of extra work to even get them straight. I was looking into some metal flares to weld on to make it more of a stock look.

We know you've got life priorities. I certainly have mine. Hence why I havent had a wagon since August.
I just wanna see the car get as close to 'finished' as possible, before you move on.
I lost the luster for my RT after the accident. Which I could have fixed. And I sold #2 because I wanted my hatch more when I moved. I've got some serious unfinished business before I move on. We should know today whether or not we're getting this house. The last hurdle before I start looking for #3
Well we will see what happens. Life tends to make things a little frustrating.
However I got a little bored again today and went out to get my thoughts together about it and started tearing it apart to see just how low I could get it. Got the collars free on the Teins and fully dropped it. I still have about an inch gap in the rear. For 16x10 and 16x9s they sit pretty good. So I might modify my fenders with the metal fender flares I have to give it a more of a stock look.
I took the flares off Eagle. I want to weld on some metal ones though for a more stock look. Dont' know when that is going to happen though. I have three sets of fenders to mess with.
You went from bowing out of the wago race to blowing my f'n mind with your Shuttle in like 2 days. You're like a woman, should I stay, should I go.... Glad to see you are not going anywhere and that wagon looks so f'n sick man!!!!!
Looks sick even without the flares. I agree to make some flares out of extra fenders for a more stock look. You can also try to stretch a thinner tire and slam it with sum neg camber. I love it dude! Very cool.
PS
Id like to score a set of bars that like you have on your roof rails. Let me know if you can get a set. Thanks!
Roll them fenders and add some camber! They look good though.
I have a fender roller here but I have a little trick up my sleeve for some metal flares. I am not a fan of camber either. Granted it looks cool on cars but tires come at a premium here, that and I have 15 sets of rims so I must keep my tires as long as possible.

We haven't really decided yet on what is going to happen. I can't sit still for more than 2 seconds and the weather kept me out of the yard so I decided to go into the garage and try and keep from going crazy. I have so much crap laying around I decided to play a little bit. Figured while I was at it might as well fix the Teins to see just how much drop I can get.

The bars are something I scored from a pallet of bike racks that were going to get thrown away. I know it is a Thule rack but I don't know the model number. I will see if I can find something for you NJ. I do have an actual HONDA option rack from my CR-V that mounts the same way but I doubt the wife is going to part with them.
I let the wagon get some air today. Took off all the Teins, greased them all up, and dropped all of them as far as possible. Rolled the one damaged fender but I don't think I will be able to roll it far enough to cover the tire up. I also removed all the mudflaps because I have something else in mind for those too.
I need to see how far I can turn those monster 16x9s up front. Haven't went from side to side yet. I might only be able to drive it in and out of the garage.
I would also like to thank the few of you showing support. The support and working on it are motivating me to start working on it again. I think all I need are a decent clutch and some bushings and I should have everything to finish it up.
