90 wagon problems

So, I went and looked closer at the car today. Its running a bit hot, and skipping mildly. The guy said he thinks its the head gasket, and the burnt valves. so i ask what do you guys think? I seen one head online and it was 750 dollars.. i cant think thats right because i can get a whole motor off hmotoronline.com for cheaper..

    First thing to do if your suspecting a burnt valve is do a compression test in each cylinder. Very easy to do and will tell you right away if you got a burnt valve. If it is a valve then just pull your head and let a machine shop rebuild it. Shouldnt cost more then 150 bux.

    i mean, i'm getting the wagon for $500.. still leaves me $5000 to fix the thing if i want it.. Outside is pretty desent shape.. needs paint of course.. interior needs alot of cleaner due to a cracked window since its been sitting like that for 6 months..

    probly get a whole new engine for it from the wreck for like $250. I'd do it that way.
