Newbie EE Owner from SoCal

Hi,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I actually joined in February 2009, but did not have a wagon yet to speak of. Anyhow, 2 weeks ago I just got a 88 2WD with 44,000 original miles (automatic) that I bought locally. I bought it from the original owner in SoCal. I even have the original window sticker and Gardena Honda dealer purchase contract. Aside from the faded clear coat paint and dried out 13" tires the wagon is in great shape.

Here are the pics:

As it sits now with 16" Rota D2 wheels & Toyo 205/45/16 T1R tires. Many thanks to Brownwagonist for my first upgrade.

Next step is to lower her for the clean look, but still want the daily driver smooth ride. Any suggestions?

Looks clean. Im not too sure on a clean drop and a nice ride. I got D2's, but thats full suspension. I think some people run ground control coilovers and tokico shocks.

Short of brand new off the showroom floor, that's the cleanest example of the breed I've seen yet. That find is awesome. Congrats. Do it justice!

Thanks for the compliments. I almost decided to keep it stock and original. But the key word is ALMOST. So let the fun begin!!
  • Wagon looks good and even better with it only having the 44K miles on it. Cant find anything that clean here in texas. Everything gets run the hell out. No public transportation in my town.

    Hi,

Thanks for the warm welcome folks!!! Form & Function type 1 sounds good. Is it a straight bolt on for my 88 wagon or will I have to modify or get another part to make them fit? Also have a friend that can get me a brand new set of Godspeed coilovers type-ss (non adjustable dampening) for $425-. He told me that they are very close to F&F coilovers. I'm thinking of getting those or just going KYB GR2 all around with some cheap coilovers as I am a baller on a very tight budget. Let me what you think.

Also looking for rear mudflaps if someone has them for sale.

    :D
  • Wow what a find. Keep it clean...

I have Function/Form type ones on my EF hatch and they ride a little firm but still ok for a daily driver. I believe on 88's you have to replace the rear lower control arms to 89-91 version to accommodate the coilover lower mounting perch.

This wagon is going to stay with the family for awhile. It's hard to beat 30+ MPG gas mileage.

Thank you very much for the info. regarding the rear LCA needed for the F&F coilovers. Brownwagonist was kind enough to forward the link of where to buy the F&F coilovers. Looks like it's out of my budget at the moment. Might have to get just the shocks/struts and some cheap coilovers. Hesitant on doing that set-up as I just don't want them to blow after a few months use.

    Decisions, decisions, decisions....
