odd b2/y7 timing issue

Hey, i picked up this 88 DX wagovan for $300 bones about 2 weeks ago. It had a burnt valve in cyl#3. Ive done alot of d-series engine swaps and mini-me's before and im pretty knowledgable about this stuff. I had an extra y7 head from a previous swap with about 65k miles, so i pulled off the d15b2 head and planted the y7 head on the b2 block. I used the y7 cam gear and y7 belt and the mechanical timing is dead on. Both line up TDC crank and cam. It runs perfect, no issues what so ever. The only odd thing is that when i throw a timing light on it it shows me about 7 or 8 deg btdc. Thats with the distributor about in the middle. I can get the timing to line up 16 deg btdc if i turn the distributor all the way back towards the firewall but it idles around 1300 rpm's.

Should i just ignor this and drive it cause it drives perfect, i just thought its kinda odd.

Anyone got ideas on this?

AFAIK Wagodizzle had an issue like this and cooked his motor from running it too far retarded.
