4wd drivetrain how to get the best preformanace

hi i recently bought a 4wd wagon(YES!) and when ever i shift i feel the drivetrain sway i checked the motor mounts im gunna look for drivetrain mounts today i was wondering what can be done to tune up the 4wd drivetrain is theree any thing to be lubed or checked often?
also what wieght oil should be used for the tranny and how many quarts does any one know chime in!
