We're going to take the new camper and go to Mount Ida, Arkansas for the whole week, Sept. 6-13. Let me know if you care to come join us. It's not close to anywhere in particular.
4 hrs. from Owasso, OK
5 from Dallas
4 from Memphis
4 from Joplin, MO.
9 from Chattanooga
10 from my house
My sister has a place on the Ouachita River- she says it's redneck disneyland There are bicycles and trails (the Womble Trail is just across the river), kayaks, a bigass raft, dirtbikes, fishing, snakes, poison ivy...all the good stuff!
If you can drive your wagon there, you're invited. There's room for tent camping, a barn if things get too rough- there might even be a bathroom in the barn by now.

wagon............................4ever....................
This is just close enough that my wife and I are thinking of joining.
If you're serious I'll get you an address... I don't know it myself yet! Only been there once.
The address is new enough that it doesn't show up on maps- it's an old farm road that was private.
33 River Place, Mount Ida, AR.
Use Goss Rd. which Google considers Mt. Ida, but Yahoo calls Oden, AR
We'll see you kids in 8 or 10 days.
It did take sometime to get there. We had motor problems about 2 1/2 hours away from home which I thought was a head gasket. We had to turn around and go back home after we had spent the night in Eufaula Friday night. We get back home on Sat. night around 5 pm. I spent the next 5 hours trying to figure out what the issue was. I did a compression only to find out that everything was perfect. 150-160 accross all cylinders. I would later find out that is was a bad 440 injector. After locating a good 440 to take its place we repacked the wagon and got back on the road around midnight on Sat. We stopped in Eufaula around 3 AM to get some sleep. Back on the road aroiund 7 AM
Wagon loaded and getting ready to leave
Wagon at Eufaula
Back at the house with new head gasket that I didnt need
Way in to ARK
Arrived at Mount Ida around 11:00 AM.

Thank you Bam and Pebbles we had so much fun and enjoyed meeting you guys so much. You guys have given us great memories that we will never forget. Thank you.
for pictures that is...
wagopalooza '09! I'll get some more pics up tonight.
Eagle Beagle, I had been wondering about your absence lately. Thought of you as I took some "Greetings From..." shots.
Didn't take any pics until the 'Last Chance Beer Depot'
Sis's place is in a dry county surrounded by dry counties...I stopped for provisions. It's a 45 minute drive for restock
We arrive in the Metroplex
Here we are at the Ouachita Valley Vista overlook- you can see the barn from here if you know what to look for
We spent the afternoon bush-hoggin'... even the tractor is cool- Polaris 500
We had stopped in town for groceries, and were waiting to hear from Jeremy. I thought he was gonna no-show. Set up and cooked dinner, caught up with the folks.
forgive me if a lot of my pictures look just like his...
Dave (brother-in-law) and I were working on a construction project already- we had agreed to go play if "guests" came. So we quit and went for a paddle
This cave is on the river just upstream from the property
These pics are actually all from Monday. We floated the lower leg on down to town. I didn't have a camera Sunday.
These cars were in a ditch along the river, would be underwater at higher water levels. We both spotted them and hauled ass over to check them out
a '64?Bonneville, early 50's Merc.,'55 Chevy 4door, and a '58 Impala
More fishing ensues...I didn't catch anything but a buzz

maybe pix later, but not here
Anyway, Tuesday after the river fun, it was time for Jeremy and Crystal(sp?) to head back to Oklahoma
we followed them out a ways just to enjoy a drive and snap some pics. Awesome roads out there... glad there were no cops :P
The next couple of days we just worked. Dave and I built a bedroom/den and bathroom inside the barn. One day was spent just going to Hot Springs for materials. No pictures of any of that, but Friday Anne and I went to ride the Womble trail. I'm still grinning There's a reason this thing is designated an IMBA Epic Trail- miiiles of bench-cut, one-tire-wide, swooping singletrack. wooohooooooo!
In the midst of all this fun, the power was out for hundreds of square miles. We thought it was just in the valley where we were. The lights went out sometime Thursday night, and weren't restored until Late Friday night. After our ride we went into town for ice and food. The (only) grocery store was grilling everything they had. Lunch was 5 bucks a plate
We decided to go for a drive. We still needed ice, and water since the well pump is electric. Ended up being a hundred-mile loop...I had to get more beer, didn't I?
Some sights along the way:
I'm a history buff, seldom if ever pass up a historical marker. Interesting that DeSoto was through here almost 500 years ago.
This spring was within rock-throwing distance of the marker above. As with many old towns, the settlement was built around the source of fresh water- since pre-history and still the spring runs pure and cold.
We kayaked under it earlier in the week, and I assumed that it was an old, abandoned road from before the dam was built. Nope. It may be that old, but it's daily used. Many local stories of drownings here when people have tried to float thru at higher river stages.
What a big damn spider
Spent all day Saturday on the construction projects and packing up for the long drive back home. Check out the freebie EG on the trailer. We drove it out, they're taking it back to TX
It rained all day Saturday, all night, and all the way back to Memphis- the first 6 hours of the drive. Miserable. I almost didn't stop at the PullaPart, but as soon as I got out of the car it stopped raining. There were only 3 4g Civics in stock, shouldn't take long...
Just a few goodies, including an Intake temp. sensor to fix the MIL I've been ignoring since passing thru Memphis outbound a week ago :P
We finally got home a little after 9pm Sunday, set up camp inside the shop to let the gear dry
Good times. We slept in the camper for 8 nights. All but 4 meals in those days were prepared in the camper's kitchen... not bad for a project that began as a joke! Let's do it again!
that's all
I don't know how  Here's a link to the whole album:
