Help dropping RT4WD oil pan

Has anyone dropped the oil pan on an RT4WD? The only manual I have is a Chilton's and it's somewhat vague on the steps. The first step is "Remove the driven gear from the transfer case". I'm assuming that is what the drive shaft is connected to at the tranny, correct? Do I have to drop the drive shaft first?

TIA!

I don't know any1's that's dropped the RT4WD's oil pan. There's no oil pan. There is a drain plug.

I think the cover that u want 2 remove is the 1 to the left(driver's side) of where the center drive shaft connects to the tranny. The cvr is about 5"(130mm) in dia. w/5 bolts in it.Once the cvr. is removed u should b able to see if the 2 bearing is bad.this should answer your other ???When I took mine apart.I found N  bearings(2).All I found were RAT terd(sh*t) shaped pieces of metal. :x :x The bearings blew up.

STUPID ME :!:  I got the Wagon w/a bad tranny.R&R'd the tranny. When looking at the bad tranny on the floor.Saw a big HOLE in the cvr. described above.Had I had known this.I would've replaced the cvr.,2 brgs ,oil & probably b driving the wgn around 4months earlier.(& saved a lotta $$$)   I was working in a friend's cold garage in 1 of the coldest winters in a while.

When I pulled my oil pan to weld in a drain for my turbo I pulled the whole engine and trans then pulled the trans off the engine. I was doing a clutch anyways but I think you can just pull the front drive shaft bolts and remove the transfer case.

Ok, I'm going to plan on pulling the front driveshaft then.. One more question... do I need to drain the fluid to remove the transfer case?
