    ....gotta love the dealer:
    42011-SH9-020 DRIVESHAFT SET, L. RR. $307.54
    42010-SH9-020 DRIVESHAFT SET, R. RR. $298.53

And alloemautoparts does differentiate between the front and rear axles...but its not available for order on the site. They usually do that on special order items. Try calling them.

try to hit up people parting them out ... that is expensive ! you can repack the bearings your self and get new boots for like 14 bucks if you have some know how
  • USDM EGUSDM EG Band Wagon
yeah, thats a pain tho, and i hate cv joint grease
  • just send them out and get rebuilt. i can get them done for about 30-50.
  • USDM EGUSDM EG Band Wagon
    ill keep that in mind!

you personally can get them done? or a company you know of can get them done.

i need two front axlees rebuilt...
  • there are a few shops in pasadena ca. the one i use is axle tech. also my father owns a auto shop here so i get hook ups. there should be a rebuilder around you or ask a shop how much just for the axles or if they know were a shop is.

I rebuilt mine, its not that hard. It is messy though

both fronts click nasty.... isnt it too late for rebuilding them?
  • sic944tsic944t Wagonist
    i say yes
if you get them befroe they click too bad when the boots tear assumeing that the problem your good
  • when a shop rebuilds an axle the bore out the grooves and put in bigger berings to stop the cliking
  • auto parts stores (like autozone, advance) all carry remanned axles...and i have to say that i've had a 100% failure rate with several different brands. and i don't mean i just had to change them out 2-3 times...more like 8 axles on one hatchback b4 i ended my problems buying 2 NEW non-remanned axle. just my 2 cents worth.

you can find them thru the dealer for those prices? i'd be surprised....i think that is for only part of the axle. i called majestic honda cuz those were the prices i saw on their website, but the guy on the phone explained to me that that was for part of the axle, and they came to about $450 each when all was said and done. so then i called my local honda and got about the same prices. i'm not saying you're wrong, but if you can get them for that price, and they're the real deal oem part, i'd really like to know and get them there...only reason i'm going thru this hassle is cuz the autozone type a1-cardone regrinds are pissing me off to no end.

San Leandro Honda(I swear I mentioned that before)...those prices were good when I posted.
Now it looks like they're both $357 now. And that's for the whole axle.
And Majestic used to be a good supplier...their prices have steadily risen to where they're no better than my local dealership when you factor in shipping costs.

You should also be considering places like Gator Axles, Drive shaft shop, Raxles.

From places like Autozone, you can get non remanufactured axles if you're willing to pay a little more

after my dilemma began with the remanned axles i tried to find NEW non-remanned and couldn't find any for the civic wagon. i also talked to the guy at raxles and he said he couldn't do much for me without the oem cores....which of coarse i retardedly (is that a word) gave to the parts store when i got my crappier remanned axlesl. a1-cardone is the name of the manufacturer that most of these parts stores (autozone, bumper-to-bumper, etc.) carry. i got another set under warranty this week and put them in and they feel 100% better..not as good as new oem but driveable anyway. if anybody has had good luck anywhere else i sure would appreciate some other options than the super expensive oem's.

I have been buying my axles from Drivewire.com. They sell new and reman. I bought a right and left for my Nissan Primera GT and they were new for 115 bucks and were a hell of a lot thicker then my OEM ones. I went to their site and it shows "EMPI, NEW, 97 bucks". The Axles I bought were also by EMPI and they are a very sturdy looking axles.

K4000-105027 Axle Assembly Remanufactured ACEI $79.32 Tomorrow
K4000-30529 Axle Assembly EMPI $97.29 Tomorrow

This is what came up for 1991 Civic 4wd EE4 1.6. Sorry if these aren't the right numbers but just trying to help and this is what came up. Again I have ordered from them before and have yet to have problems with the axles I bought.
