B18B 92 teg ls power .... imput please

ok guys i would like to get a poll on what you peeps think this build will make i wanna crunch numbers
shenrie i often call you out ... but i know you know your DA'S
anyway ill take it from the filter to the exaust and break it down

large intake 3 inch not sure what but something large and free flowing getting cool air .... 1-3 hp

blox knock off type r manifold 4-7hp

decent port on intake and exaust ports without removeing head just making stuff a little larger and smooth 4-6hp

crane cams stage 2 for stock valve train largest cam safe for stock parts 5-12hp

jdm 2.5 inch gsr header 3-6

large cat or test pipe 2-4hp

full 2.5 exaust 2-4hp

i know this just frees up power .........

no ac or power steering 2-4hp

light under drive pulley 2-4hp

lightened flywheel 9 pounds 3-6

so i get 28-56 hp gain i did that in my head i may have messed up ..... 56 seems way high i try to be very realistic ....

my motor is rated at
140 hp up from 130 for the 90 and 91 i dunno how much is related to obd1 versus obd0 i hear the cams are better in the later model

i am gonna try to hopefully do some tuning maybe get a chipped ecu i will explore the options

im hopeing for a 35hp gain i am touching on every aspect of the air-flow on this motor so i think that number is realistic thats at the flywheel of course so ......
175-17percent drive train loss i get 145.25 at the wheels this figure seems a touch high but i am optimistic

anyways if it made a solid 135-140 at the wheels my money is well spent .....

keep in mind the teg this came from tips the scales at 2,600 pounds my wagon being an 88 is under 2,200
so i hope it will scoot maybe a high 14 i think that is very resonable

i guess time will tell but any imput would rock thanks guys if anyone has seen any good dyno numbers for any of this crap let me know

Power isn't measured like a yard stick. If it was, a dyno would kick out a singular number like 145hp. But it doesn't...it reads 145hp @ 6200rpms and 130 lbs/ft of torque @ 4300 rpms.
As conservative as you think your estimates are, you don't figure out a mods impact on power and just add them up. You need to look at the entire dyno curve.
A part may add 5 hp to your peak. This is what you're talking about above.
But another part may actually take 3 hp away at peak, but add 7hp between 2000 and 5500rpms. So its still a beneficial part to install, but it can't be reflected in your attempt at calculating output.

So my advice to you is to stop this nonsense fixation on paper numbers, build your car with sound engineering principles(which you appear to have started) and concentrate on learning how to actually tune your car (timing, air-fuel ratio, ecu tweaks etc) so you can make best use your parts potential.

hahah excellent response I am aware of various things which help and hinder ... like i assume that these mods will prolley hurt my torque alot and i cant tune till i have the thing together but hey man you cant hate me for number crunching i am shooting for these figures im trying to get some other guys veiws on how it will work
you know if all we did was test and tune and never dabdled around with bullshit like me and all these random horse power numbers that mean nothing till its on the dyno
then we wouldnt have this web site

but i thank you i realize that claims and numbers mean nothing but in a nutshell i cant wait till its together and on a dyno but until that actually happens ill let all this nonsense swim about in my head

Well like davens said, but ya, those numbers arent too far from realistic other than the flywheel and the end total. The flywheel will just move the hp. Other than that, if you plan on the low numbers you guessed you should be somewhat in the ballpark. If I were you Id add some kind of A/F controller. That will let you dial it in and make it so you will be able to get closer to acheiving the end number you have in your head. It will more than likely come down to tuning in the end, it always seems to work out that way, at least for us anyway.

Another thing is where you want your HP. A larger exhaust will give better topend, and a smaller one will give you a little more off the line. Also how are you planning on chipping the ECU? And on the cams, Ive heard that most of the cams available for the LS are not worth the money, but no first hand experience.

Also, the 90-91 teggys have the 130 hp. They changed the cams and intake manifold in 92 which resulted in 10 hp gain.
