Driver side front axle?

I just noticed my driver side front axle (outer boot) is ripped and just started clicking when i turn, would it be okay to replace the boot or should i just replace the whole thing?

If it's already making noise, just change the whole axle. They're only about 70 bucks or so.

as inexpensive as axels are these days, its not even worth fighting a boot on and getting hella greasey, replace te whole thing ! imo

Agreed, an axle swap is as easy as 3.141592654. (Pi  ) I let mine go for a while after I got it, and it was clicking then. When I finally got around to replacing it, the inner CV joint FELL APART as I removed it. Clearly I let it go too long. I was lucky it didn't fall apart while driving.

Is your wagon FWD or RT4WD? If FWD, getting the right part will be no problem at all - your drivetrain is the same as a Civic/CRX DX which is as common as dirt. If RT4WD, be careful. The number of splines is different, and the driver's side is A LOT shorter than FWD models due to the intermediate shaft that only RT4WD models have. The local Advance Auto Parts got me the wrong axle. Twice. And couldn't get the correct one, it seems. Their computer is wrong and that's all they can go by. Fortunately I only really needed the passenger side, which they got right on the first try.
  • If it's clicking, it's broken and needs to be replaced.
  • is the passenger side the same as any other civic of that year even if its awd?
