What is the largest displacement engine we can install in the wagon but still keep the A/C?

Can I use the original transmission or will the new engine have to come with a trans?

Is it better to modify the existing engine?

    It is 2wd, 5 spd, 131,000 miles. All original. I just bought a new a/c compressors, filter drier, o-rings and now thw a/c works.

    the front wheel drive wagons can be swapped exactly the same as a 88-91 crx dx. There is already TONS of info out on the net about crx swaps, so have fun reading.
